The Design Consortium, a prestigious student/faculty design studio was presented with the task of creating a new brand identity system for Express Newark, with the goal of connecting Rutgers university with the surrounding community in a collaborative, learning-based environment. 

Problem: The project is to create the brand identity system for an entity called “Express Newark” that combines together the university and outside community in a third space, collaborative, and learning environment. 

Solution: We used our expert knowledge of Newark to design a logomark, style guide, and wayfinding system for Express Newark’s physical space, with a web presence to follow. In addition to being a successful design project, Express Newark was a unique opportunity to go beyond the barriers of the classroom and to work with each other to create something we’re proud of. 

Role: Designer, team member, collected interviews and data, research, way finding systems.
